NRA to Donate More Than $25K to Central Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Agencies

NRA Press Release

NRA to Donate More Than $25,000 to
Central Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Agencies

FAIRFAX, Va. –  (SecondAmendmentSupporters.com) – The National Rifle Association will donate $25,220 to two law enforcement agencies in the central Pennsylvania region that contribute to public safety and community service.

These donations are made possible through fundraising efforts at NRA’s annual Great American Outdoor Show in Harrisburg, and continues the tradition of support for the men and women of Law Enforcement across the country by the NRA. Since the NRA started the Great American Outdoor Show four years ago, over $194,000 has been donated to central Pennsylvania Law Enforcement, youth groups, and other eligible organizations.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission will receive a $15,220 grant to acquire night vision goggles for the Woodland Tracking Team, who are frequently deployed to search for lost or missing hunters and hikers. A recent mission using night vision goggles enabled officers to find a father and daughter lost during archery season, in which officers located the pair in the darkness of night at 2 a.m. three miles from the nearest roadway.

The Swatara Township Police Department will receive a $10,000 grant to support their newly approved K-9 program. The department proudly reintroduces the K-9 program for the first time in 11 years, which will become an invaluable asset in multiple facets of law enforcement, including criminal apprehension, building searches, evidence recovery, drug interdiction, tracking wanted and missing persons, community outreach and more.

The success of the Great American Outdoor Show, the world’s largest consumer sports and outdoor show, and the tireless efforts of The NRA Foundation make these charitable contributions possible, empowering law enforcement agencies to continue providing invaluable service to the communities surrounding the show. The NRA is among the nation’s foremost supporters of law enforcement, and we are proud to continue supporting the men and women who selflessly encounter great risk to protect the innocent.

The nine-day Great American Outdoor Show returns to the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg Feb. 3-11, 2018, featuring 650,000 sq. ft. of the best the outdoors has to offer.
